Screen Printing with Ku'Kuxtal

Ku'Kuxtal Tshirts

We are hugely excited to partner with our friends at Ka'Kuxtal to bring screen printing workshops to our Study Abroad Yucatan (SAY) students.

Ka'Kuxtal means revive. Using designs from Mayan artist Juan Cima Barzon, and now also his son Salvador Cima, they promote artistic, handcrafted products made in the Zona Maya of Quintana Roo.The designs, which they print on t-shirts, bags and other products showcase imagery of day-to-day life, and cultural identity and iconography proving that Maya culture is still very much alive and well. Our students can screen print their own t-shirt or bag from a choice of Maya designs creating a unique souvenir of your trip to Felipe Carrillo Puerto. The workshops are delivered in Spanish to support our immersive Spanish language program but don't worry if your Spanish is a little rusty, we're always on hand to help!

Speak to our Study Abroad Coordinator to book this activity or to find out about the other excursions on offer at Na'atik Language and Culture Institute, Mexico.

If you would like to read more about Mexican culture, history, cuisine and language, check out our blog page for our latest monthly articles. You can also sign up to our newsletter to receive these straight to your inbox along with the latest news about our non-profit school for local and Indigenous students in Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

The best way to experience the Mexican lifestyle is in person, with a Na’atik Immersion experience. Not only do you live with a local Mexican-Maya family, sharing home-cooked meals and free time, but also receive expert instruction in your chosen language at our school. Best of all, every immersion experience helps fund our subsidized and free local education program, helping local students to access opportunities and make their own futures.
